Driving Lessons

Car Lessons
We have been providing Car Lessons in Ireland since 1968. All our ADI (Approved Driving Instructors) instructors are highly qualified and RSA registered - whether you are a beginner, have a test coming up, are a nervous learner or even a little more experienced - we have the right driving instructor for you!
A category 'B' licence allows you to drive a car with seats for a maximum of 8 passengers.
We can arrange to collect you from home, work or college for each driving lesson. We provide the car for your lessons or you can use your own car for lessons. Perfect for you to get that car licence hassle-free.
In order to proceed with car lessons please ensure you have your category 'B' learner permit. Minimum age of 17 years.

Bus Lessons
We have been providing Bus and Coach Lessons in Ireland since 1968. We are the North East's longest established driving school and offer the most competitive prices. Your Rice School of Motoring (ADI) Approved driving instructor will always be in control of the vehicle, so your safety and the safety of other road users will never be compromised.
A category 'D' licence allows you to drive a bus with passenger accommodation for more than 16 passengers.

If you are considering a career as a coach driver, our Volvo is perfect for learning to drive. You will receive quality one to one tuition to allow you to be in the best place possible to sit your driving test.
In order to proceed with coach lessons, please ensure you have your category 'D' learner permit. The minimum age for sitting test is 24 years of age or 21 years of age with CPC

Minibus Lessons
We have been providing Minibus Lessons in Ireland since 1968. We are the North East longest established driving school and offer the most competitive prices. Your Rice School of Motoring (ADI) Approved driving instructor will always be in control of the vehicle, so your safety and the safety of other road users will never be compromised.
A category 'D1' licence allows you to drive a minibus having passenger accommodation for more than 8 persons but not more than 16 persons.
Our minibus is a Ford Transit, which is very easy to drive. Perfect for lessons for 'D1' category & for paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMT's), volunteers & general minibus driving.
In order to proceed with minibus lessons, please ensure you have your category 'D1' learner permit. Minimum age 21 years.

Trailer Lessons
We provide the most modern trailers that meet the requirements for the RSA category BE driving test. Our trailers are perfect to tow and convenient for driving around town.
A category 'BE’' licence allows you to tow a horsebox or a livestock trailer for bringing animals to the local mart.
Your category ‘B’ (Car) driving licence only covers you to drive a vehicle up to 3,500kg & trailer up to 750kg. If you want to tow a trailer with a gross vehicle weight of more than 750kg, you are required by law to hold a full ‘BE’ licence

Articulated Truck Lessons
We have been providing Articulated truck lessons in Ireland since 1968. Our articulated truck is very suitable for learning to reverse & driving around town for the driving lessons & driving test, along with meeting all the requirement for the category CE driving test. Your ADI Rice Driving Instructor will always be in control of the vehicle, so your safety and the safety of other road users will never be compromised.
A category 'CE' licence allows you to drive a goods vehicles in category 'C' with a trailer (includes articulated trucks)
If you are considering a career as a Heavy Goods Driver - Articulated, category 'CE' these trucks are generally used for long haul journeys, nationally or on the European Continent. Our Volvo unit & Montracon trailer, along with knowledgeable & professional driving Instructors are excellent for taking your first steps on this exciting path.
You will need to have your full category C (rigid) licence to allow you progress to a category CE learner permit. The minimum age for category CE licence is 21 or 18 with CPC.

Rigid Truck Lessons
We have been providing Rigid Truck Lessons in Ireland since 1968. All our ADI's (Approved Driving Instructor) are highly qualified and RSA registered - whether you are a beginner, have a test coming up, are a nervous learner or even a little more experienced, we have the right driving instructor for you!
A category 'C' licence allows you to drive goods vehicles with a weight over 3,500kg
If you are considering a career as a Heavy Goods Vehicle Driver (HGV - RIGID), Rice School of Motoring will help you gain the necessary skills to progress in your chosen career. The category 'C' licence will allow you to drive a rigid truck normally used for local & national deliveries.
You must have a category C learner permit to progress with lessons and the minimum age for category C licence is 21 or 18 with CPC.

Cancellation policy on driving lessons:
We require a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancellation.
A fee of €30 will be incurred for cancellations made within 24 hours
